ARTIST STATEMENT

My fascination with colour and form began as a small child cutting up cardboard cereal boxes to use the underside as “canvas.” Art is my playground so rather than committing to one medium I move between painting, colour pencil, charcoal, pastel, sculpture and digital art. The common denominator in my work is paper, either to make marks on or to mould into sculptures. I love the textures, colours and flexibilty of paper. Portraiture (human, plant or animal) has always been an interest of mine. My aim is to direct the viewer's gaze to the points of beauty I that see in the subject. My most recent project was a commission to illustrate a book entered into the “For Real, For Real” exhibition at the DAAD Gallery in Berlin. This project was an adventure into new composition styles and bold colour. A challenge and a joy.
